National Black Chamber of Commerce Statement on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
Washington, D.C. – Harry C. Alford, president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement following the release of The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act:
“Today we stood with House leaders as they released the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. For the first time in decades, we have a bold pro-growth tax reform plan that will set the stage for increased investment, job creation, and higher wages for American workers. As Important, African American businesses, in particular, will benefit from a lower corporate tax rate as well as full expensing of capital investments ultimately allowing for families to see more money in their pockets.
As the legislative process moves forward, it’s imperative that lawmakers retain these vital provisions while not using the tax code as a means to pick industry winners or losers. The time has come for Congress to buckle down and quickly get tax reform legislation to the president’s desk. The nation can’t afford to wait another thirty years.”
